Role Purpose 

We’re looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager to accelerate the growth of our Composites Telecom & Adjacent Segments business across North America. This role is focused on developing strategic customer partnerships, winning new business, and bringing innovative composite solutions to market.

Reporting to the Senior Sales Manager and based on the East Coast, you will work cross-functionally to increase the share of wallet with existing, new and underserving account, as well as leveraging Coats' footprint to globalize this business. By collaborating closely with customers, R&D, Innovation, and Manufacturing teams, you will influence specifications, support product development, and drive the commercialization of advanced solutions in a rapidly evolving industry

 

What you will do 

  • Develop and expand strategic relationships with existing and new customers across the Telecom and Adjacent Segments market in North America.
  • Identify, qualify, and convert high-value business opportunities into profitable sales growth.
  • Create and manage account plans, opportunity pipelines, and sales forecasts aligned with growth and profitability targets.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Innovation, and Manufacturing teams to identify, develop, and commercialize new product opportunities in non-traditional market sectors.
  • Secure product approvals and guide opportunities through sampling, trials, qualification, approval, first order, and repeat sales.
  • Apply consultative, value-based selling techniques to address customer performance, reliability, sustainability, and process challenges.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and support profitable growth through effective margin management.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, customer needs, and industry developments to inform strategy and identify new growth opportunities.

 

What we are looking for

  • +5 years of sales, business development, techno-commercial, or manufacturing experience. Telecom, Composites, high-performance materials, or related industries are highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of winning new business and delivering profitable growth in complex B2B environments.
  • Experience engaging with R&D, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen with expertise in solution selling, value quantification, and long-cycle negotiations.
  • Strong opportunity funnel management skills from qualification through to repeat sales.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across North America.
