Role Purpose-

To lead and manage maintenance and operations of dyeing and utility equipment, including preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operations while driving energy conservation initiatives and meeting sustainability KPIs.

 

Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities-

 

EHS, Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards and legal requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to statutory regulations, including the Factories Act and TN Factory Rules.

Maintenance & Reliability

  • Manage preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities for dyeing machines and utility equipment (Air Compressors, Chillers, Boilers, Heat Recovery Systems, ETP/STP/ZLD).
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and machine performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reliability metrics such as MTBF and MTTR.

Performance Monitoring & Improvement

  • Analyze weekly and monthly performance metrics (breakdowns, MTBF, MTTR) and track action plans.
  • Drive improvement in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), including utilization, efficiency, and right-first-time performance.
  • Monitor and reduce waste associated with maintenance-related issues.

Energy & Sustainability

  • Track and improve energy consumption (kWh/kg) and water consumption (L/kg).
  • Identify gaps, implement conservation initiatives, and drive sustainability improvements aligned with organizational KPIs.

Operational Excellence

  • Implement SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module effectively and ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Kaizens, one-point lessons, and 6S practices.
  • Optimize dyeing processes by suggesting modifications, retrofits, and improvements in coordination with OEMs.

Projects & Engineering Support

  • Provide engineering support for new machine installations, including design, layout, and execution.
  • Participate in plant improvement and expansion projects. 

            People Development & Training

  • Lead and develop a team of technicians and engineers.
  • Conduct regular training programs and ensure compliance with SOPs, TaRA, and MSA.
  • Improve behavioral safety (BBS) scores and overall workforce competency.

           Inventory & Cost Management

  • Manage maintenance inventory levels effectively.
  • Optimize spare parts availability to reduce MTTR and control inventory costs.

 

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 10+ Years experience.

 

Languages Known-English and Tamil

 

Essential:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with problem solving approach.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Leadership skills to effectively manage a diverse group of technicians/professionals.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks at a time.
  • Knowledge on legal requirements related to Factories act, TN Factory rules
  • Knowledge of Health, safety & environmental standards and laws.

 

Desirable :

 

  • Internal audit certification, Lean Six Sigma & ISO management system certification would be an advantage.
