Role Purpose:
The Assistant Manager - Electrical is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical systems across the S&T and D&F Units through effective maintenance, reliability enhancement, energy management, statutory compliance, and project execution. The role leads the upkeep and continuous improvement of HT/LT power distribution systems, motors, drives, electrical panels, instrumentation interfaces, and utility electrical assets to support uninterrupted production, optimize energy performance, uphold electrical safety standards, and drive operational excellence through proactive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you will do (Key Responsibilities):
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and safe operation of all HT/LT electrical systems and assets across S&T and D&F Units.
- Optimise energy consumption, and maintenance costs through effective reliability and maintenance practices.
- Deliver efficient preventive, predictive, condition-based, and breakdown maintenance programs for all electrical equipment and distribution systems.
- Provide timely electrical support to production, utilities, safety systems, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and company electrical safety requirements.
- Drive energy optimization, asset life enhancement, and operational excellence through continuous improvement and technology upgrades.
- Maintain critical site safety and fire protection systems in a healthy and compliant condition at all times.
- Key Activities
- Electrical Maintenance & Reliability
- Plan, schedule, and execute preventive, predictive, condition-based, and breakdown maintenance of HT/LT electrical assets, including transformers, VCBs, ACBs, MCCs, PCCs, motors, starters, VFDs, APFC panels, DG sets, UPS systems, and power distribution networks.
- Develop annual maintenance plans, shutdown schedules, condition monitoring programs, and critical spare-parts strategies to improve equipment reliability and availability.
- Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for recurring electrical failures.
- Monitor and improve maintenance KPIs such as equipment availability, MTBF, MTTR, breakdown frequency, and maintenance cost.
- Production & Utility Support
- Ensure reliable electrical operation of spinning machinery, including Blow Room, Carding, Draw Frame, Speed Frame, Ring Frame, Winding, and associated motors, drives, sensors, and control systems.
- Ensure reliable electrical operation of Dyeing (Cotton & Synthetic), Final Winding, Polishing, Gassing, Reeling, ETP, STP, Air Compressors, Chillers, and other utility systems.
- Provide prompt support to production teams to minimize downtime and sustain productivity targets.
- HT/LT Operations & Power Management
- Supervise safe HT/LT switching operations, isolation, restoration, synchronization, load management, and power distribution activities.
- Maintain and update single-line diagrams (SLDs), electrical schematics, protection coordination studies, and operational records.
- Monitor electrical system health, including power factor, harmonics, voltage and current imbalance, transformer loading, and maximum demand.
- Implement energy conservation initiatives to reduce power consumption and improve electrical efficiency.
- Electrical Safety & Statutory Compliance
- Enforce electrical safety standards, Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), isolation, earthing, and safe work practices.
- Conduct periodic electrical safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, certifications, and statutory compliance activities with Electrical Inspectorate, CEIG, and other regulatory authorities.
Who you are (Requirements):
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electrical and electronics engineering 7+ years’ experience with C license in Spinning Mill and Dyeing & Finishing operations, team leadership, statutory coordination, project execution and electrical energy management is preferred.
- HT/LT electrical distribution, transformers, VCB/ACB and protection systems
- Motors, starters, MCCs, VFDs, APFC and power-quality fundamentals
- Electrical safety, earthing, PTW and LOTO
- Preventive/predictive/breakdown maintenance and RCA
- Electrical drawings, SLDs, testing and troubleshooting
- Energy management and reliability improvement
