Role Purpose:
The Assistant Manager – Warehouse Operations will be responsible for managing end-to-end warehouse activities including Inbound, Execution, Outbound, Inventory Control, 3PL management, Labour Compliance, Health & Safety, and Cost Optimization. The role ensures operational excellence, service level adherence, compliance, and productivity improvement across the warehouse.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Inbound Operations
- Manage receiving operations including unloading, GRN, quality checks, and put-away.
- Ensure ASN validation, documentation accuracy, and minimal dock-to-stock turnaround time.
- Coordinate with procurement, quality, and transport teams for timely accurate receipts.
2. Operational Execution
- Oversee daily warehouse workflow including picking, replenishment, and dispatch readiness.
- Monitor floor productivity, manpower planning, and adherence to SOPs.
- Ensure accurate and timely SAP transactions.
3. Outbound Operations
- Plan picking waves and dispatch schedules to meet OTIF (On-Time In-Full) targets.
- Monitor packing quality, staging, loading, and documentation (invoice, e-way bill, Gate pass).
- Coordinate with transporters for routing, vehicle availability, and timely shipment departures.
4. Inventory Management
- Maintain high inventory accuracy through cycle counts, stock audits, and root cause analysis.
- Monitor shrinkage, adjustments, and stock integrity across all storage zones.
- Inventory reconciliation and differences recover from the 3 PL partners
5. 3PL Vendor Operations
- Supervise and govern 3PL performance through KPIs and SLAs.
- Validate monthly billing, manpower deployment, and adherence to SOPs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives with 3PL partners.
6. Legal Compliance
- All license maintained as per the State & Central law.
- Ensure 100% compliance on working hour, overtime & weekly off policy.
- Ensure statutory compliance for contract labour (PF/ESI, minimum wages, LWF etc.).
- Verify contractor documentation, muster roll, Bank Payments of the labour compliance etc.
- Maintain ethical labour practices and ensure adherence to regulatory norms.
7. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Enforce safety protocols, 5S, PPE usage, and safe MHE operations.
- Conduct safety drills, incident investigations, and preventive action planning.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety, load limits, housekeeping, and risk assessments.
8. Cost Optimization & Vendor Payment
- Optimize labour, MHE utilization, space, consumables, and packaging costs.
- Reduce operational waste, improve productivity, and support layout/flow improvements.
- Track and deliver cost-per-unit, operational budgets, and efficiency metrics.
- Freight cost optimisation with proper route planning.
- To check the vendor bills with proper working and pass the bills as per the company P2P policy.
Education, Qualifications and Experience:
- Graduate in any discipline; MBA in Supply Chain/Logistics preferred.
- 5–7 years of warehouse management or operations experience.
- Strong people management skill.
- Data-driven decision making and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety, labour laws, and compliance.
- Stakeholder coordination and vendor management.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, SAP, and operational reporting.
Desirable:
- Dock-to-stock TAT, GRN accuracy
- Inventory accuracy %, cycle count closure
- OTIF%, dispatch accuracy
- 3PL SLA adherence & cost/unit handled
- HSE audit score, incident reduction
