Position Title: Assistant Manager - Payroll

Location: Bangalore, India

 

Role Purpose:

The Assistant Manager – Payroll will be responsible for end-to-end payroll management for India, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee salaries, statutory compliance with Indian labour and tax regulations, and payroll-related reporting. The role requires strong attention to detail, thorough knowledge of Indian statutory laws, and effective coordination with multiple stakeholders to maintain payroll accuracy and compliance.

 

Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities

• Manage monthly payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Validate and reconcile inputs such as attendance, leave records, new joiners, exits, salary revisions,        

   and variable pay.

• Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements (PF, ESI, PT, TDS, gratuity and other applicable     

    labour laws).

• Handle employee queries related to salary, taxation, and payroll policies.

• Prepare payroll MIS, reports, and analytics for management review.

• Stay updated on changes in labour laws, taxation, and statutory compliance.

• Support process automation, audits, and continuous improvement in payroll systems.

 

Education, Qualifications and Experience

• Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, or HR. MBA/PGDM or CMA/ CA

• Experience: 7-10 years of payroll management experience (India payroll).

 

Essential:

• Strong knowledge of payroll systems (SAP, ADP etc.).

• Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced formulas, reconciliations).

• Knowledge of income tax and statutory compliance.
