Job Title: Assistant Manager - Procurement
Location: Madurai
Role Purpose:
To manage the procurement of electricity from a mix of renewable and non-renewable sources, ensuring cost-effective, compliant, and sustainable energy solutions .
Principal Accountabilities:
- Supplier Management – Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Contract Negotiation: Manage tendering and negotiations for Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and other procurement contracts.
- Market Research – Monitor market trends, pricing and regulatory changes.
- Cost Optimization – Negotiate pricing and payment terms to achieve cost savings.
- Contract Management – Draft, review, and manage procurement contracts to ensure legal compliance and operational efficiency.
- Compliance & Documentation – Ensure adherence to procurement policies, regulatory requirements and maintain accurate records.
- Risk Management – Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to electricity procurement and supply reliability
- Cross-functional Collaboration – Work closely with Finance and Engineering teams to align with business needs.
- Purchase Order Processing – Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies.
- Reporting & Analysis – Generate procurement KPI reports and analyse data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
Education, Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering or related field.
- Minimum 8 - 10 years of experience in direct or indirect procurement, preferably in a multinational or manufacturing industry.
- Experience with procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba, Power BI), data analytics and controls & audit frameworks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret data and present insights.
Desirable:
- MBA/Postgraduate in Operations or Supply Chain.
- Understanding of renewable energy markets, especially wind and solar.
- Experience in negotiating and managing PPAs.
- Familiarity with sustainability goals and carbon offset mechanisms.
