Role Purpose

 

At Coats Digital, we build SaaS (Software as a Service) applications running on Azure, built with continuous delivery using the latest .NET technologies. Our customers work in the fashion industry (Brands and Manufacturers), and we help them in several fields like planning, costing, scientific calculations and optimising their operations.

 

As a DevOps Engineer, you will be part of a team that builds and maintains our application ecosystems on Azure, with a focus on Web Apps and supporting infrastructure. Working alongside Development, QA and Product professionals, you will own our CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, manage infrastructure as code using Bicep, and ensure our Azure environments are secure, performant and cost-effective.

 

 

Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities

 

  • Build and maintain Azure DevOps continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines in YAML for cloud-native applications.
  • Manage software releases and deployments to Azure environments, primarily targeting Web Apps on Azure.
  • Create and maintain infrastructure as code using Bicep across all Azure environments.
  • Manage and maintain Windows and Linux VM infrastructure where required.
  • Monitor and optimise performance, costs and security across Azure subscriptions using alerts and dashboards.
  • Improve security and infrastructure compliance using Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
  • Support the configuration and management of Azure platform services including Web Apps, Azure B2C, Application Insights and related services.
  • Author and maintain deployment and infrastructure documentation.
  • Report progress, challenges, and risks at regular intervals.
  • Become a reliable and effective member of the team.

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • Recognised as a DevOps Engineer with experience of Azure, Azure DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD Pipelines and Git.
  • Strong experience with Azure Web Apps and Azure PaaS services.
  • Proficiency with Bicep for infrastructure as code.
  • Able to program in scripting languages such as YAML, PowerShell and Bash.
  • Experience managing Windows and Linux VM infrastructure.
  • An understanding of modern software development and the role automation plays.
  • Analytical with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Willing to earn technology-specific accreditations.
  • Open to learning modern technology and languages and taking advantage of our training budgets.
  • Understand SaaS application design patterns and practices.
  • Have some formal technology training or prior commercial experience in a similarly mature organisation.
  • .NET application development experience.
  • Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Application Insights, Azure Monitor).
  • Azure certifications (e.g. Azure Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert).
  • Fashion industry or manufacturing experience.
