Job Title: Executive – Manufacturing (Maintenance )
Location: Ambasamudram

 

Role Purpose:

To supervise and coordinate day-to-day mechanical and electrical maintenance activities in the spinning mill, ensuring safe machine operation, minimum breakdowns, maximum machine availability, and timely completion of preventive maintenance.

 

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Breakdown Maintenance 
  • Attend machine breakdowns immediately and restore equipment at the earliest possible time. 
  • Identify the cause of breakdown and carry out corrective action. 
  • Escalate major and repeated breakdowns to the Maintenance Engineer/HOD. 
  • Record breakdown details, repair time and action taken. 
  • Monitor repeated failures and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA). 
  1. Preventive Maintenance 
  • Execute daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance activities as per schedule. 
  • Ensure machines are properly inspected, lubricated, adjusted and maintained. 
  • Check critical components and identify potential failures before breakdown. 
  • Ensure PM work is completed within the planned time. 
  • Maintain machine maintenance history and records. 
  1. Spinning Machinery Supervise maintenance activities in: 
  • Blow Room 
  • Carding 
  • Drawing 
  • Comber 
  • Simplex 
  • Ring Frames 
  • Auto Coner 
  • TFO / Twisting equipment, where applicable 
  • Humidification and other associated equipment 
  1. Shift Management 
  • Take charge of maintenance activities during the assigned shift. 
  • Allocate fitters, electricians and technicians according to machine priorities. 
  • Ensure proper shift handover and communicate pending jobs. 
  • Monitor machine stoppages and maintenance response time. 
  • Coordinate closely with Production Supervisors. 
  1. Safety 
  • Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely and as per SOP. 
  • Follow LOTO and electrical safety procedures. 
  • Ensure proper use of PPE by maintenance personnel. 
  • Check machine guards, interlocks and emergency-stop systems. 
  • Report unsafe conditions, near misses and incidents immediately. 
  • Never permit unauthorized maintenance work. 
  1. Spare Parts & Tools 
  • Ensure required spares and tools are available before starting major jobs. 
  • Monitor consumption of critical spares. 
  • Maintain proper control of tools issued to the maintenance team. 
  • Identify worn-out/critical components and inform the Maintenance Engineer. 
  1. Machine Improvement 
  • Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability and productivity. 
  • Participate in Kaizen, TPM, 5S and cost-saving activities. 
  • Suggest modifications to reduce breakdowns, energy consumption and maintenance costs. 
  • Support trials and improvements for new machines/components. 
  1. Team Supervision 
  • Guide and supervise fitters, electricians and technicians. 
  • Monitor work quality and discipline. 
  • Provide on-the-job technical training. 
  • Ensure manpower is properly utilized during each shift. 
  • Develop multi-skilled technicians through practical training. 
  1. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 
  • Machine availability % 
  • Breakdown frequency and breakdown hours 
  • MTTR – Mean Time To Repair 
  • MTBF – Mean Time Between Failures 
  • Preventive maintenance compliance % 

 

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s in Textile Technology or related engineering discipline. 
  • Relevant technical knowledge of textile spinning machinery. 
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, motors, drives, sensors and pneumatic systems is preferred. 
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in textile spinning mill maintenance, depending on qualification and responsibility. 
  • Experience in Ring Frame, Blow Room, Carding, Drawing, Comber, Simplex and Auto Coner maintenance is preferred. 

 

 

Desirable:

  • Good troubleshooting ability. 
  • Knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance. 
  • Leadership and manpower handling. 
  • Good coordination with Production and other departments. 
  • Safety awareness. 
  • Basic RCA and problem-solving skills. 
  • Good documentation and reporting. 
  • Ability to work in shifts.
