Role Purpose

To manage the continuous improvement activities in finishing department to realize best practices and to provide high quality products and services.

To build up a high performing team to deliver the finishing objectives, including safety, service, sustainability, quality and cost control.

 

Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities

  1. Safety & Housekeeping

Create a proactive Health & Safety culture to ensure our people come to work and return home safely by:

  • Ensure the company Health & Safety policy is fully implemented within own area of responsibility.
  • Foster a proactive Health & Safety culture by raising employee awareness and proactively searching and fixing potential hazards.
  • Demonstrate a visible leadership by walking the floor, communicating Health & Safety best practices and leading by example.
  • Be responsible for Health & Safety of the team and embrace “journey to zero” initiatives.

 

  1. Quality

Increase customer satisfaction by delivering high quality products through:

  • Ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) are up to date and well trained to all relevant operators.
  • Ensure all SOPs and WIs are followed properly through routine quality awareness enhancement and monitoring.
  • Carry out root cause analysis along with actions to reduce both internal and external quality complaints.
  1. Productivity and Service

Drive continuous improvement culture to deliver the productivity and service objectives by:

  • Use IE standards for manning enough headcounts to meet monthly output plan while minimizing working hours
  •  Ensure winding machine speeds are optimized to deliver as high output as possible with minimum breakdown
  • Through process optimization, WIP and FIFO management to reduce the Manufacturing Lead-times
  • Daily monitor and improve delivery performance in order to minimize delayed orders.
  1. Sustainability

Pioneer a sustainable future by:

  • Proactively generate new ideas to reduce total wastes, energy and water consumptions in order to deliver our sustainability goals.
  • Minimize non thread wastes including lubricant, MUM, plastics and cleaning cloths by encouraging reusing, reducing and recycle.
  • Deliver thread waste target by reducing over-make and coordinating with dyehouse to ensure good quality thread and with engineering to minimize broken spindles.
  1. People management

Create a high performing team capable of contributing to continuous improvements and succession planning through:

  • Set up and communicate SMART objectives to subordinates
  • Timely feedback, monitor and evaluate performance of subordinates to improve working morale
  • Carry out skill gap analysis for key subordinates and then create and implement appropriate individual development plans (IDP)
  • Ensure internal labour regulations are understood by all subordinates and followed properly

 

Education, Qualifications and Experience

Knowledge and Understanding of:

Experience:

  • College graduate or above and/or minimum 3 years management/ supervisory experience in manufacturing
  • Exposure to change management processes

Skills & Ability:

  • Good people management
  • Good planning and organizing
  • Communication effectiveness
  • Problem solving techniques
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools
  • Communicate fluently in English
  • Lean Six Sigma – Green Belt.
  • Technical knowledge and experience of lubrication and finishing.
