Role Purpose:
The Labour Welfare Officer will be responsible for ensuring statutory compliance, promoting employee welfare, and maintaining harmonious industrial relations at the plant. The role focuses on implementing welfare initiatives, addressing employee concerns, and ensuring adherence to applicable labour laws.

 

Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities:

 

1. Statutory Compliance & Legal:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws (Factories Act, Industrial Disputes Act, Shops & Establishments Act, etc.)
  • Liaise with government authorities, inspectors, and regulatory bodies
  • Maintain statutory registers, records, and filings
  • Support audits and inspections

 

2. Employee Welfare:

  • Plan and implement welfare initiatives (health camps, engagement activities, grievance redressal)
  • Monitor working conditions, hygiene, safety, and amenities
  • Address employee concerns and ensure timely resolution

 

3. Industrial Relations (IR):

  • Maintain healthy relations with workmen
  • Support in handling disciplinary matters and grievance management
  • Assist in negotiations, settlements, and conflict resolution

 

4. Administration:

  • Oversee canteen, transport, sanitation, and other welfare facilities
  • Ensure contractor compliance with labour laws
  • Monitor attendance, working hours, and overtime compliance

 

5. Documentation & Reporting:

  • Prepare reports on welfare activities, compliance status, and IR matters
  • Maintain accurate employee records and documentation

 

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
  • Degree/Diploma in Labour Welfare / Social Work / Personnel Management
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in manufacturing setup

 

Key Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of labour laws and statutory compliance
  • Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Stakeholder management (internal & external authorities)
  • Problem-solving and employee-centric approach
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
