Role Purpose
The incumbent is responsible for leading and delivering all major capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects in Bangladesh, including Infrastructure, utility and capacity, factory renovation, modernization, and expansion initiatives.
The role ensures projects are executed safely, within approved budgets and timelines, and in full compliance with Coats’ governance, engineering standards, and sustainability commitments. Through strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and disciplined project management, the role supports strategic growth, operational efficiency, and long-term asset optimization for Coats Bangladesh.
Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities:
Capital Project Strategy & Governance
- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of all major CAPEX projects in Bangladesh, ensuring adherence to approved scope, budget, timelines, and quality standards.
- Ensure all strategic expansion and infrastructure projects are executed in alignment with Coats’ global CAPEX governance framework and approval processes.
- Prepare robust project business cases, feasibility studies, cost estimates, and timelines to support investment decisions.
- Ensure clear project governance, risk management, escalation, and reporting mechanisms are in place.
Project Execution & Delivery
- Plan, coordinate, and manage all phases of projects including scoping, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Ensure projects such as ETP implementation, factory renovations, capacity expansion, and modernization initiatives are delivered on time and within approved budgets.
- Proactively identify project risks and implement mitigation plans to avoid delays, cost overruns, or quality deviations.
- Ensure smooth coordination among internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and suppliers throughout project execution.
Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Provide strong support and guidance to local factory and functional teams during project execution to ensure minimal operational disruption.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, HSE, Finance, and HR teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Manage and coordinate involvement of global experts and functional specialists during project scoping, planning, and execution phases as required.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all CAPEX project‑related matters within Bangladesh.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all engineering, construction, and equipment‑related projects fully comply with Coats’ Health & Safety standards, local legal requirements, and international best practices.
- Ensure safety risk assessments, method statements, and permits are in place prior to project execution.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all project sites, contractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure environmental and sustainability requirements, including ETP and environmental compliance standards, are fully met.
Financial Management & Cost Control
- Own and manage approved CAPEX budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting, tracking, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor spend against budget, flag variances early, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure optimal use of capital through value engineering and cost‑effective project solutions without compromising safety or quality.
Contractor & Vendor Management
- Manage contractor and vendor selection, performance, and contractual compliance.
- Ensure contractors deliver in line with agreed scope, timelines, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Build strong partnerships with reliable engineering firms, suppliers, and service providers.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Provide regular, structured project updates to local and global stakeholders.
- Capture lessons learned and best practices from completed projects and apply them to future initiatives.
- Continuously improve project management processes and capabilities within Bangladesh.
Education, Qualifications and Experience

Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline).
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in managing large‑scale CAPEX projects in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex and high‑value projects on time and within budget.
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to independently lead multiple projects simultaneously.
- Solid knowledge of project management methodologies, cost control, risk management, and governance.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance in construction and industrial projects.
Desirable:
- Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent).
- Experience with ETP, sustainability‑related infrastructure, or regulated industrial facilities.
- Experience working with global engineering and governance teams.
