Role Purpose:
To manage and develop the quality function of the unit, ensuring that the right skills, processes, materials, information and procedures are in place to consistently meet customers’ requirements and the standards established by formal quality management systems (ISO) and other quality compliance, thereby maintaining a competitive edge within the market place.
Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities:
Quality Management:
- Ensure the integrity of the quality system is maintained and developed thereby contributing to the achievement of consistent levels of operational performance.
- Manage and develop the QA function and promote a Total Quality philosophy at all levels, thereby developing and sustaining a culture of right first time and continuous improvement.
- To investigate and develop new systems and working practices to improve quality, reliability and efficiency, through continuous measurement, feedback and action.
- Contribute to factory efficiency by improving the performance of supplied materials and assisting production in establishing better controls over the Dyeing and Final Winding processes.
- To ensure relevant end products are tested within the defined guidelines, ensure that test reports are maintained and that products are submitted for rework where necessary.
- Manage the internal procedure for nonconforming products, including investigation of quality problems, identification of causes and development of effective, pragmatic and viable corrective and preventative actions. whilst liaising with suppliers where necessary.
- Recruit, develop, motivate and manage a QA team that optimises its effectiveness, is flexible in the support it offers and meets current and future business needs.
- Ensure succession plans are developed and in place for people identified with potential for promotion or increased responsibility ensuring their knowledge gaps are clearly identified and training plans put in place to close existing gaps.
Customer Complaint Handling:
- Manage the customer complaint procedure, including investigation of quality problems, identification of causes and development of effective, pragmatic and viable corrective and preventative actions.
- Establish and develop good professional working relationships with customers and suppliers.
Compliance Management:
- Ensure quality compliance with business obligations, throughout the site, relating to applicable quality certification schemes (ISO, GRS, TQP, Oekotex, BSTI, Decathlon etc.).
- Manage the team of internal ISO auditors ensuring that people are trained, calibrated and conducting internal audits as per the schedule developed by the QA Manager.
- Manage the process of closing all nonconformance to the company certified standards following external quality audits (ISO, GRS, TQP, Oekotex, BSTI, Decathlon etc.).
Management Representative:
- Act as Management Representative (MR) of
- ISO Quality Management System certification,
- GRS certification,
- Decathlon Quality Assessment GRID,
- Oekotex Certification,
- BSTI certification, and ensure the implementation of the standard at plant.
Departmental HSE Standards:
- Ensure departmental H&S KPI by maintaining Coats standard safety culture.
- Achieve and maintain a high level of safety awareness within the quality department.
- Constantly monitor compliance with the Coats H&S procedures and policies within the quality department.
Education, Qualifications and Experience:
- M.Sc./B.Sc. Engineering/Textile Engineering or any related discipline
- 10+ years’ experience in quality / process control role
