Role Purpose:

  • The Process Controller – Fabric Quality is primarily responsible for conducting final fabric inspection using the 4-point system, preparing comprehensive Quality Summary Reports, and ensuring that all outgoing fabric lots meet defined quality standards before dispatch.

 

 

 Principal Accountabilities:

 

1.Fabric Inspection & Quality Evaluation

  • Co-ordinate & Monitor 4-Point fabric inspection system at Vendor location.
  • Understanding on all fabric defects including weaving faults, dyeing and finishing defects & exposure in packing standards.
  • Prepare lot wise inspection reports & arrive at overall lot quality status.
  • Ensure GSM, width, colour, hand feel as per given standard.
  • Evaluate shade consistency and record shade variation as per approved grading norms.
  • Check and record fabric length per roll against declared length.
  • Flag discrepancies between physical fabric and lot documentation before inspection.

2. Testing, Quality Assurance & Standards

  • Co-ordinate with Testing Laboratory for sample collection and test reports.
  • Record & interpret In-house, Vendor and 3rd Party test results.
  • Ensure inspection & testing machines are calibrated as per schedule.
  • Verify all required testing is completed before shipment clearance.
  • Maintain and cross-reference fabric standards, approved lab dips and shade bands.

3. Quality Reporting, Records & Compliance

  • Compile Quality Summary Report integrating inspection, hand feel, colour and test data.
  • Maintain inspection records in physical and digital systems.
  • Record and report daily inspection quantities and quality KPIs.
  • Document and escalate recurring defects and abnormal quality trends.

4. Non-Conformance & Material Control

  • Identify and segregate non-conforming fabric rolls with Hold/Reject status.
  • Ensure physical quarantine of rejected materials to prevent wrong dispatch.

5. Packing, Dispatch & Logistics Coordination

  • Verify roll packaging and labelling compliance through mandatory packing audits.
  • Co-ordinate dispatch activities at vendor locations for timely and accurate shipments.

6. Training & Self-Development

  • Participate in quality training programs, awareness sessions and calibration exercises.
  • Continuously enhance fabric quality and inspection knowledge.

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Any degree – preferably in Apparel\Fabric\Textile
  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in Fabric inspection.

 

 

Desirable:

  • Fabric quality inspection in textile industry (preferably) or apparel/ garment.
