Role Purpose

 

To lead the UX design function for Coats Digital’s SaaS web applications, establishing design standards and driving the UI/UX vision across products used by fashion industry brands and manufacturers. Responsible for managing a team of designers, providing direction, mentoring and career development whilst remaining hands-on in design and prototyping work.

 

Working closely with Product Managers, developers and QA professionals, the UX Lead will translate product requirements into intuitive, high-quality user interfaces using Figma, Adobe and Cursor. This role combines creative leadership with practical delivery, ensuring consistency, usability and a cohesive design language across all Coats Digital products.

 

 

Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities

 

  • Lead and manage UX designers, providing direction, mentoring, and career development.
  • Define and maintain the design system and UI standards across all Coats Digital products.
  • Design and prototype user interfaces for SaaS web applications using Figma, Adobe and Cursor.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, developers and QA to translate requirements into intuitive designs.
  • Review and approve design work produced by the team, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making.
  • Champion accessibility and usability best practices across all products.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing UX and drive continuous design improvement.

Education, Qualifications and Experience

Desirable

  • 5+ years of UX design experience, with a focus on SaaS or web applications.
  • Proven experience managing or leading a design team.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Figma.
  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD).
  • Experience with rapid prototyping tools (Cursor or similar).
  • Strong understanding of responsive web design, accessibility standards and modern UI patterns.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to inform design feasibility.
  • Experience with design tokens and component-based design systems.
  • Fashion industry or manufacturing experience.
